JAZZ NIGHT AT CHIT CHAT

Various artist were invited to this glamerous night.There was even a guy with the drum and the poetry. I didn't understand a word but he had a good beat.

HOW TO BE A PROPER HOUSEWIFE

I'm not gonna be a housewife for much longer, therefore I decided to have a day filled with proper housewife-stuff. I started off with having breakfast with my husband and drove him to the office. When I got back home I let the maid in, gave her some instructions, and then went to Bobbili at Taj Pamodzi to buy a bracelet. So far so god, now it was time to go to Zebra Café and have coffeand toast with other housewifes, spauses of men working at various embassies. Check! Picked up some groceries on my way home and had lunch with my husband. It was getting really hot so after lunch I cooled off in the pool and read a couple of pages in my book. Then off to Rapsody to hang out with Petter, the computer and eventually a beer (gonna pretend it was some kind of fancy drink though). After that it was time for dinner and the last thing on the list: charity. A proper housewife-day!

AT THE GAS STATION

Zambian mobile phones seems to be extremely flammable. Of course I had to take the picture with my Swedish/Finnish phone :-)

Which gave us a good reason to hang out on the verandah.

MUZUNGO PARTY

Muzungo cocktail out in Leopards hill. The only place to find a good margherita and real cheese. Haven't had that in a while - even the dogs were dying to get some.

UNZA

Today was one of theese days, during the rainy season, when the weather can't make up its mind, eventually it just decided to rain and shine at the same time. It's been raining for a couple of days and I was really feeling for a walk. What to do, I grabbed my biggest umbrella and put my biggest sun glasses on and went to the University of Zambia (UNZA). I wanted to get a closer look and feel the atmosphere. It's built in the 60s and is really cool and big.

Celebrating the inauguration of the 44th US President Barack Hussein Obama with the Democrats Abroad in Zambia. What can I say, it was a happy day.

TRYING TO FIND AN ADVENTURE

I do like living in Lusaka, but there is to be honest not a lot of things to do. So you just have to do all he things that are available. Next on our list was Munda Wanga, it is a park (like Skansen in Stockholm) just outside Lusaka. A strange place that is meant to be some kind of sanctuary for animals. A kind of sad place, made me think of the bored animals in Aardmans creature comforts. Saw a lion, zebras, a cheeta and some other stuff though.
But we were not fully satisfied and so we went to the other side of town on the bumpy dirt road to the reptile park. And yes, there was a lot of snakes and crocodiles. They seemed well fed as they were fat and lazy.

Pernilla, Magdalena and Jocke took the flight back home to Sweden. All of them were red and gorgeous from enjoying the sun a little bit too much the last day of their holiday.

An indian family remade their living room into a restaurant. They put in a fridge, plastic chairs, a menu and interesting decoration. Strange mix, good food.

THE LOCAL BEER SHAKE SHAKE - BEFORE AND AFTER

SAFARI

We stayed in a very civilised tent, with a wooden pergola on top. At night we could hear the hippos and elephants walking just outside. During the day we whent on adventurous tours on the river and in the park and saw elephants, impalas, kudus, crocodiles, eagles, vultures, a leopard, a cheeta, hippos, heartbeest, waterbucks, jackals and zebras. And by the way if anyone out there is planning to go safari in the Kafue Park and need a nice place that is easy to get to I recommend Mukambi Lodge. Nice place, nice staff and great guides. Just do it.

GOING TO KAFUE FOR SAFARI

The drive on the long endless (actually only 275 km) road was rewarded with an awesome sundowner by the Kafue.

HOHO?

Pernilla, Magdalena and Jocke are visiting the fancy and cool capital of Zambia and there are a lot of restaurants that just have to be experienced. After the traditional, and as always fantastic, beef at Marlin we had a craving for Indian. We've heard good things about the L.A.Ranch Restauant that is supposed to be one of the best indian restaurants, not very cosy but good food. And once again we found ourselves having dinner alone in the restaurant. I'm surely starting to feel like a celebrity so famous they have to empty the place when we come. Or mabey we just eat at the wrong restaurants.

MANNERS

Remember to always be polite. When making a phone call, bying something or passing someone in the street (no matter if you're walking or out running with a red face and no breath left) the greeting phrase is "Hi, how are you?" Even parking signs are polite. It's kind of nice actually.

THE EXCITEMENT OF FLYING

Something had happened to the BA crew and at least some of them were at the hospital, at least that's what the Lusaka rumour said. Was it a too big a New Years Eve party that went crazy or was it a bug? The story doesn't tell. Well, we got a tip that it might be a problem getting on the plane to Heathrow this morning. We went there really early in order to maximize Eva's chances of making the flight. 3 hours later and 20 minutes before departure she recieved a boarding pass for another day, but they checked in the bag and she boarded. The plane had a technical problem though, but luckily they had a spare aircraft sitting there...

NEW LIBANESE RESTAURANT IN TOWN

The restaurant was new, the owner didn't really know the menu and the staff tried to stare us to death instead of working. But the food was actually good, the baloons made us happy and we got extra dessert instead of proper tea.
